Calligraphy Process
Envelope and place card Calligraphy
Retainer
After discussing your calligraphy needs, and before beginning your project, a $25 retainer is required to secure the agreed upon date and timeline on my calendar. The retainer fee will be applied to your final payment.
If your order is cancelled at a later date, the retainer will act as a cancellation fee. I understand that in today’s environment, weddings may be rescheduled. I will do my best to accommodate your new event date if at all possible.
Paper
Envelopes shall be provided by the client. Please provide an additional 20% overage for testing of inks, and any additions or last minute changes that are needed.
Place cards may be provided by Karen, or you may choose to provide something you have already purchased. I often work closely with local stationers. If you are in need of assistance obtaining envelopes or paper products, I am happy to assist with resources.
Availability
Turn around time for envelopes is dependent on my current calendar schedule and availability. Please allow 10 business days per 100 envelopes, and 3 to 4 business days per 100 place cards. Rush fees may apply under certain circumstances.
Guest list
Lists are to be typed in a minimum 12 pt font in a WORD or PAGES document. If you have created a list in a spreadsheet, please merge it into a label format before sending. Please send lists exactly as you would like to see them written (Street vs ST, Virginia vs VA)
Lists should be formatted as followed:
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Brown
123 Maple Street
Charlottesville, Virginia
22902
Drop off and Shipping
Karen Lane Calligraphy does not have a retail location. I often have clients drop off and pick up items from my home in Crozet. Should you live outside of the Charlottesville area, items may be shipped to me, and then be shipped back to you at the time of completion. I use USPS or FedEx with a tracking number provided.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out by email at hello@karenlanecalligraphy.com
